We provide our FAQs with the utmost professionalism and authenticity

A comprehensive urban concept aimed at introducing the authentic and diverse architecture across the regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and enhancing it through design regulations and guidelines that achieve balance between authenticity and modernity. These guidelines direct architectural and urban design toward contemporary solutions that reflect the Kingdom’s aesthetic and cultural values, contributing to the development of a modern built environment deeply rooted in local character.
Saudi Architecture

Currently, the guidelines apply to all commercial projects, whether low-rise or high-rise. They apply to commercial, governmental, major projects, and residential villas. Further project categories will be announced later.

Currently, projects submitted to the design studio have been returned because they did not meet any of the design guideline requirements. After updating the design to comply with the guidelines, a new request should be submitted. If there are comments, the request will be returned with feedback but will not be rejected. If there are technical issues on the Baladi platform, the support team should be contacted.

The design elements of Saudi Architecture will be incorporated into the building permit process without requiring additional steps. The same approval mechanisms will apply once the design is confirmed to comply with the guidelines and the project’s site.

Traditional design is applied in historically classified areas. Transitional design is used in areas surrounding historical neighborhoods, blending traditional and modern elements. Contemporary design is the most widely used and will cover around 80% of new and future projects, focusing on modern architectural development.

According to current procedures, you must contract with an engineering office approved by the Baladi platform to prepare plans in accordance with the Saudi Architecture guidelines. The engineering office will then submit the plans to the relevant authorities and follow up until the construction permit is issued.

The design guidelines for Saudi Architecture have been applied beginning with major projects, governmental buildings, commercial buildings, and residential villas. The first phase covers Al-Ahsa, Taif, Abha, and Makkah, with subsequent phases to be announced.

Design studios provide training resources and answers to technical inquiries. Additional information can also be obtained through development authorities, strategic offices, and municipalities across the Kingdom.
